Payments for the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
In order to guarantee your reservation with Inka Trail Backpacker please send us a tour deposit and the picture of your passports
Please read well the payment instruction
The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. After purchasing the ticket, we cannot change the date of the trek departure or change the name or passport number on your Inca Trail permit or Machu Picchu entrance ticket.
Currently, we have 2 payment options:
1.- We recommend Visa online for sending your deposit. You can use Visa credit card only The deposit is $200 Visa online charges a 6% service fee (for the international transaction) so the total deposit per person you need to send is 212 dollars per person. Please note that Visa doesn´t add the 6% automatically. The 6% the Visa charge is not part of the tour price.

When we receive your booking deposit via Visa, we will send you a booking invoice and confirmation that we have received your deposit and your tour has been booked. Expect to receive your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu a few days after making your deposit.
The remaining balance will be due in our office in Cusco at least 2 or 1 day before your tour start date.
All final payments are due before the trek commences at our office in Cusco. We accept US currency and Peruvian currency based on the exchange rate of that paying day. Any denomination is accepted as long as bills are in good condition – no torn bills are accepted.
Peru in general works mostly in cash. The use of credit cards is still relatively new here and not a normal practice, in fact only tourist destinations accept credit cards. For us to run an efficient business, cash is STRONGLY encouraged. We do understand that carrying a large amount of cash is uncomfortable,
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS
Refunds: If Inka Trail Backpacker fails to confirm the reservation, your payment will be refunded in full.
Cancellation: Because of the strict regulations of the Machu Picchu site, once you have made your reservation, you cannot cancel the space that you have reserved. You also may not alter the name or date of the reservation. Please double check the date for your visit to Machu Picchu before paying your deposit.
If you need to cancel, your deposit will not be refunded and there may be additional cancellation fees. The terms of your cancellation are based on how far in advance of your trip you notify our office and they are listed clearly below.
We understand that there are many unexpected complications that will lead you to cancel your tour. You the client are responsible under the terms below no matter the cause of cancellation: sickness, pregnancy, health of family, accidents, work schedules, strikes or any other factor. There are absolutely no exceptions.
ONCE BOOKED, DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. CHART BELOW OUTLINES WHAT FURTHER FEES WILL BE DUE.
Cancellation By Terms
If you cancel between 30 and 10 days before your trek, you must pay 50% of the total cost.
If you cancel between 10 and 3 days before your trek, you must pay 80% of the total cost.
If you cancel one day before your trek, you must pay 100% of the total cost.
Finally, in the exceptional case that you decide to head back once you have started the trail, you must pay extra expenses such as food and transportation. You may join the group in Machu Picchu for the walking tour and use all of the services onward.
