Arequipa is a beautiful colonial town in a fertile valley. Arequipa is the departure site for tours and excursions to the Colca Canyon valley.
The canyon is home to the Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), a species that has seen worldwide effort to preserve it. The condors can be seen at fairly close range as they fly through the canyon walls and are an increasingly popular attraction. 'Cruz del Condor' is a popular tourist stop to view the condors, the pass where condors soar gracefully on the rising thermals occurring as the air warms. The condors are best seen in the early morning and late afternoon when they are hunting. At this point the canyon floor is 3,960 ft (1,200 m) below the rim of the canyon.
The La Calera natural hot springs are located at Chivay, the biggest town in the Colca Canyon.

Day 1: Arequipa
On day 1 we arrive in Arequipa and settle into our hotel.
Day 2: Arequipa – Chivay
After an early breakfast, we depart by bus toward the Colca Valley. This drive will take us across Pampa Cañahuas at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve. Pampa Cañahuas is the habitat of herds of vicuñas. Along the way we will also stop at the Mirador de los Andes, the crater of Chucura, and the Mirador of Chivay, where natives still use pre-Columbian terraces. When we arrive in Chivay, we will check in to another hotel. In the afternoon you will have spare time to visit thermal and medical baths.
Day 3: Chivay – Condor’s Cross – Arequipa

Early in the morning we leave for Condor's Cross. This is where the condor may be spotted flying in circles above lush pre-hispanic terraces, most of which are still farmed on today. Here you can enjoy the impressive panorama of Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world (3,000 m/9,843 ft). On our way back to Chivay, we will visit the Mirador of Chinina. Here we will find the famous hanging tombs and the Hanging Bridge of Sifón that connects the town of Yanque with Coporaque. In Yanque, we will visit its beautiful church and other attractions while walking on its stone streets. We will then drive to the observation points of Choquetipo, Artahuilque, and Maca to enjoy spectacular views of the Colca Valley. In the evening we will return to Arequipa and spend the night there in a hotel.
Day 4: Arequipa
After breakfast, we will take you to the local airport or bus station.
